As I think about it, it makes sense. Young adults in college, pre- and post-college tend to have more support and more time. If I fail financially at 40, I have much less time to recover than someone failing at age 20.

Also, the younger generation has the option of staying at home or going back home if they fail financially while some of us have families of our own that we’re supporting. We feel we have more at risk and that keeps us from leaping into action. We’d rather hold on to the hope of job security or a lottery ticket than risk our financial future.

But the truth is, we need to stop dreaming and start doing. We need to take action towards our dreams or they’ll only get further away and we’ll only feel we have even more to lose. It’s a massive downward spiral. So what’s the solution? We don’t want to lose it all; we want some sort of a safety net, right?
